Losing a child is definitely the worst thing that could ever happen to a mother. It's your obligation to protect your child and give them the best life possible. During the reign of King Herod, he slaughtered all the boys under two years old in order to keep his throne and get rid of any threat to take it of him. This picture depicts a desperate and worried mother hiding her son from the soldiers there to kill her child and all the rest in her town. It was a devastating event that took place and thousands of lives were lost.

When my group was assigned the story of The Reign of Herod and the Slaughter of Innocents I was excited because I already knew a lot about this story. Herod was king of the holy landed and intended to keep his crown until he died. But when news spread that the saviour God had sent down from heaven who was destined to be the king of Jews, Herod was not particularly happy to learn of this. In order to prevent the son of God from taking his crown he ordered that all boys that are under two years old were to be condemned to death. Herod intended for one of the children's he was slaughtering to be Jesus so that he would be out of the picture. But Joseph and Mary saved Jesus from the wrath of Herod. While researching this story I learned that Herod even killed his two sons so that they couldn’t take the crown from him when they were of age. I also learned that Herod didn’t even live that long. He died not long after he ordered that boys under two must be killed, he died a year later. I also learned from other group presentations that there is a linen cloth that is and outline of Jesus. It wasn’t drawn nor was it created by someone. There is scientific evidence that the outline on the linen is a mixture of blood and dirt. The linen is called The Shroud of Turin. I also learned that Jesus most famous sermon was the the one he gave on a mountainside in Galilee. It is called the Sermon on the Mount and  is where Jesus taught us about christian morality, the beatitudes, and much more. What I found to be the most fascinating story related to Jesus is The Shroud of Turin. It amazes me that there is an actual outline of Jesus on it, and although there are many people who believe to be fake, I believe it is an actual outline of him. How can it be a coincidence that an outline of what is believed to be Jesus found near where he was buried not be the real deal. Unless someone died and was wrapped in the linen and was set up to be Jesus, I believe it’s real. People today are still trying to figure out if it really 100% is Jesus, and When they do and the world finds out that Jesus existed our world's history will be rewritten and lives will be changed. I know this might sound very cliche but I see characteristics of Jesus in my Nonno, rest easy Nonno, and in my boyfriend. My Nonno was one of a kind. If you met him or if you knew him you would agree. Although he wasn’t a religious man and claimed to be full useless knowledge, He portrayed characteristics that Jesus had. Jesus was a teacher. He taught us lessons to live by in our everyday lives. My Nonno too taught my cousins and I lessons to live by as well. They weren’t as complex as Jesus’s teachings, instead they were simple and easy to live by. He was looked up too by all and was loved for being himself. Jesus too was and still is looked up too to for guidance and is loved for who he is not for trying to be something he’s not. It may sound like a stretch trying to compare characteristics my boyfriend and Jesus share, but it’s really not. Jesus was kind, respectful, happy with what he has, and helped those in need. My boyfriend is by far the most respectful person I have ever met. He is kind and when he can helps those in need whether it be someone he knows or a stranger. Jesus is known for helping all kinds of people which reminds me of characteristics I see in my boyfriend.
